Our History
Opechee Construction Corporation was founded by Bill Woglom, in 1980. Bill was educated at Boston Architectural Center, and he subsequently worked for several architectural firms in the New England area. In the 1970’s, Bill decided to make a career change, and went to work for a construction company that was an early pioneer in the “design/build” method of construction, primarily for the industrial building market. Early in this new endeavor, Bill realized that the design/build method of construction had significant economic benefits. Bill started Opechee with the philosophy that Opechee would specialize in design/build, and always strive to achieve the best combination of function, aesthetics, and economics for his customers. These principal goals continue to guide Opechee’s approach to every project.
Bill’s son, Mark Woglom, attended the University of New Hampshire in the mid 1980’s, where he obtained a BS in Business Administration. After graduating from college, Mark went to work for a regional real estate development firm, where he was able to gain valuable commercial real estate experience, as well as oversee a wide variety of construction projects. When Mark came to Opechee in 1990, he recognized that Opechee’s design/build niche would suit a large variety of building types. Mark gained valuable experience designing and drafting all aspects of the buildings that Opechee constructed, and Mark used that experience to continually refine the methods and materials that Opechee implemented in its building projects.
In the early 2000’s, Mark took on the leadership role at Opechee, and by 2003, Mark had acquired 100% of the equity in Opechee. Using the guiding principles that Bill had established, Mark continued to grow Opechee into a recognized leader in the design and construction of commercial buildings throughout New England. Today, Mark continues as the President of Opechee, with the support of highly experienced business leaders, designers, and construction professionals. Opechee is proud of its roots, and appreciative of the employees, contractors, and customers that have been a part of Opechee’s success. Most important, Opechee is excited for the future, as we continue to combine the philosophies of old, with the highest degree of experience, professionalism, and technology available in today’s design and construction industry.
